Description
The Department of Emergency Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine is currently recruiting Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Emergency Medicine Physicians at the rank of Assistant Professor or above to join our growing academic faculty. We seek colleagues who are academically minded, patient care–focused, and committed to advancing our clinical, education, and research missions.
About the Department
Washington University’s Department of Emergency Medicine is nationally recognized for excellence in clinical care, training, and scholarship. We sponsor a well-established four-year residency program with 56 residents and offer fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine, Education, EMS, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Research, Toxicology, Ultrasound and administrative/operations.
Our faculty are dedicated to teaching and mentoring the next generation of Emergency Medicine leaders while modeling compassionate, patient-centered care.
Clinical Practice
Our physicians provide care across a variety of practice environments:
On our academic campus, we practice at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJH): Level I Trauma Center with ~80,000 annual visits; largest Emergency Department in Missouri along with St. Louis Children’s Hospital (SLCH): Pediatric Emergency Department with ~41,000 annual visits
In addition, we practice at six (6) community hospital emergency departments across the region, with annual volumes ranging from~20,000 to ~50,000 annual visits.
This combination of academic and community practice settings offers unique opportunities for professional growth, teaching, and scholarship.
Qualifications
MD or DO degree
Board-certified or board-eligible in Emergency Medicine
Academic appointment at the Assistant Professor level or above (commensurate with experience)
Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence, education, and research
